Install Intel Edison driver on Windows 8

Issue: Windows 8 does not recognize Intel Edison Board

Workaround/Solution: Disable driver signature enforcement

Step#1: Make sure that you have the right version of Windows Driver:

Download Windows 64-bit Integrated Installer from this link or go to download page at this link and look for "Driver Software"

Step#2: Go through following steps and memorize or take a print or open this link in a different computer because you are going to restart your computer.

Step#3: Press Window button from your key board, search for advanced startup options as shown below. Click on "Change advanced startup options"

Step#3: Click on "Restart now" from Advanced startup option

Step#4: After your PC restarts you should see a menu, click on Troubleshoot

From Troubleshoot menu, click on "Advanced Option"

Step#5: From Advanced Option menu, click on gear icon "Startup Setting"

From the next window, click on "Restart" button (right bottom)

Step#6: After your computer restarts you should see a menu, one of the option should be "disable driver signature enforcement" (Number 7). Enter 7 from your key board and hit enter.

Step#7: Your computer will reboot. Now install driver software you downloaded in Step#1. If it prompts you to uninstall existing driver, go ahead and do it. At the end it will re-install driver again. During installation you will see following popup, click on "Install this driver software anyway".  You will end up doing this several times.

Step#8: Download FTDI drivers from here. Make sure to run as administrator.

Finally reboot your computer :-) and then connect Edison board.

Happy programming...
